The Scholarly Kitchen is an independent, moderated blog aimed at supporting the mission of the Society for Scholarly Publishing. The blog is a platform for contributors to discuss what’s hot and cooking in the scholarly publishing industry.
The Scholarly Kitchen’s name comes from the idea that the best conversations are always in the kitchen. The site is a platform for discourse between innovative, and opinionated contributors (a.k.a. “chefs”) who discuss what’s hot and cooking in the Scholarly Publishing industry. The newly designed identity gives a visual nod to the “kitchen” concept. To keep content fresh and engaging for users, the site displays the most recent, most commented, and most viewed posts. Contributors are able to curate content around “collections” that are organized by hot topics as well as displaying ads with Google Doubleclick for Publishers. Page views for the site increased by 8.7% from the previous year and the site in on track to hit 10 million lifetime page views.
